Hello! Welcome to Hunter Gatherer, I’m glad you’re here. My name is Olivia. A vintage lovin, antique thriftin, the older the better, interior decorator. Two year’s ago I started a small vintage resale shop that has blossomed into going back to school to earn a Residential Interior Design certification. I’m almost done🥳
It’s been rewarding to already have worked with clients who’ve trusted me to transform their spaces; but I digress,
while I gravitate to the dated pieces not everything I decorate with is. In fact the clients I have had all had styles different from mine. It has helped in making me more confident in my abilities to design outside of what I’m naturally drawn to. As a decorator I find it’s Important to find a harmony in design so that there’s an equilibrium between the new and old. We’ll cover that in another post. 😘
I am often asked what’s my favorite design aesthetic, well that’s like asking a garden what its favorite flower is; they are all beautifully different. What I am drawn to is the ornate curves of a Louis XIV chair, the opulence of baroque art, the romance of rococo to the classical and timeless look of neo-classical design. It’s even more fun blending these styles among contemporary styles.
What about you? What’s your favorite design aesthetic?
What do you find yourself drawn to no matter what’s trending? It’s that answer that I think truly makes a house a home. When we forget about what everyone else is doing and begin to decorate from our own hearts, magic happens in our spaces. Consider it your own brand of fairy dust.
What will you sprinkle?
